Alright people, just want to hear your thoughts on best guitar tones for the festival.

Derek Trucks was obviously up there
BB King .. Lucille .. for its resonance to the core of our blues souls.
really enjoyed Ray Beadle's set but have to say strictly tone wise Adam Pringle ( i think his rhythm guitarist's name) nailed that show.

But I have to say the surprise highlight for the festival was Julz Parker from Hussy Hicks I've seen them heaps being from the Byron area but I had no idea she could make a strat sound like that. It was only for 2 or 3 songs in their set ( and i've been looking for videos online - lots of acoustic but no electric .. anyone??)
Seriously I was expecting them to put on a good show but it was a whole new level for me. reckon she could've held her own on any stage all weekend. Wow
Strat tone to melt the heart!!

I can't think of any more at this stage .. highlights anyone?

Jeff Lang has the best guitar tone of anyone I have ever seen (at Bluesfest). I have no hesitation in saying that.

He is. You know Jeff, from memory, was a late bloomer in terms of learning guitar? I could be wrong but I think he played another instrument for awhile. He is getting better no doubt. A few songs on Sunday evening sounded that damn good it wasn't funny. He's a real student of the instrument and I'll tell you what, he gets the most out of his guitars. They always sound impeccable. His singing though is not my style, with no disrespect intended, so that probably prevents me a little from really getting hooked into him, but I could listen to him play guitar all day! If he felt compelled to ever load up on an electric guitar instead of his usual acoustics I reckon he would tear the roof off! Awesome guitarist.

Derek Trucks handsdown. I'm a huge Jeff Lang fan, but Derek Trucks is on a whole other level than any other guitarist. Almost perfect.

a little off the track, but when i arrived on friday headed to crossroads and passed the tent selling cigar box guitars.some unknown was playing and singing great stuff,he then disappeared. the business owner told me on sunday he was shocked at how good some of the players were that wandered in.

yeah .. gotta love the way a tele cuts through the mix .. beadle played some neat stuff but i thought tone wise it was all a bit lost in the mix .. may have just been volume but i think it was a bit fuzzy and blended too much with the keys ..
would definitely go see them again though .. twas my first experience

Don't know the guy's name but Mavis Staples' guitarist absolutely killed it
And Elvis Costello is a vastly under rated player

The guy before Dylan .. Warren Haynes? I'd never heard of him before but he was superb .. epically ringing out quality perfectly pitched solos. Perfect. Loved it. @ Ray Beadle - I literally stumbled on his gig at the smallest tent!? What were they thinking he would have torn down MOJO!!

So many to choose from, but what about Eric Bibb with Staffan Astner? They were fantastic! I really thought the addition of the electric guitar of Staffan added a lot to the show.
Also, Robert Randolph-WOW! Can I get a witness?
