Absolutely wonderful to see Mic Conway and a jug band on the bill! The Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band were close to my favorite Oz band of the early 70's I kid you not!! Their live shows were legendary. I love it when bluesfest plucks out an artist from completely under the radar - go along people, it's guaranteed to be a hoot!!

The National Jug Band were at Woodford this year. Absolutely wonderful

Featuring the amazing Caroline "Cazzbo" Johns (??) om sousaphone and the renowned Azo Bell on uke

Mic did stuff on stage that...well...vaudeville is alive and well

Very clever, very skilfull and very funny!

Hey I remember Captain Matchbox and used to love them too.

So Mic if you're reading this...

PLEASE PLAY ON SATURDAY!!

This Band looks absolutely wonderful.

A do not miss.

A real treat.

Indeed this was another wonderfully entertaining treat from the Cabaret Tent.

And Azo Bell's presence gave us two ukeleles on stage.

How did Mic do the fire-eating trick with the two sticks in his mouth at once ?

Saw Mic and his band on Saturday from front row. Took heaps of photos which I will try and post here later.

Hasn't changed much.. his voice is still amazing, same cheeky smile.. just a bit less hair. Those jokes and tricks had us cracking up.

Would have loved to catch both sets at Bluesfest 2011.

But sacrificed the Monday set for Eli "Paperboy" Reed.

The Sunday set was lots of fun.

Had the audience in raptures.

Bought the last copy of the DVD from the CD tent.

Hint for EK.

Never talk about the weather.

Talk about the music.

The music is important, and you can control what you view.

The weather just happens, and cannot be controlled by the Bluesfest Team.

This is accentuated by the fact that Byron Bay is a very high rainfall area.

You are not permitted to be barefoot at Bluesfest.

Be proactive.

Bring a decent pair of sandals.

Give thanks that the ground conditions are better than at Glastonbury.

Still pissed that I missed Captain Matchbox. I love Mic Conway and his brother, Jim. I remember seeing them in a few pubs around Melbourne in 1980 back when I was a sweet young thing. I had a schoolgirl crush on Mic for a while .. the fire eating thing was such a turn-on. ;) I hope they play next year.

I thought I was being proactive as I originally had on a pair of sneakers and socks and also had with me an old pair of thongs which I put on. These were no good in the mud as they kept getting stuck, hence the decision to go barefoot. If I had known how bad the mud was I would've worn gumboots. I remember observing people wearing gumboots on the shuttle bus on the way in and thinking they were being silly as the w_______ (I'm not allowed to say that word) had been great up until Monday night.

And once again, wood chips in the muddy areas next year please Bluesfest organisers.

Thank you.
