SydneyDMBfan I salute you. Much more excited now!!
As an aside I quote:
In 2004, Matisyahu, after having signed with JDub Records, a not-for-profit record label that promotes Jewish musicians, released his first album, Shake Off the Dust...Arise. At the time a relatively unknown musician, he did not rise to prominence until Bonnaroo 2005, when Trey Anastasio of the band Phish invited him a guest spot on his set. This would prove to be the event that launched his career.
Which is why we need Phish this year!!

Wow, a lot of much loved old favourites, and some newer acts that should be able to excite the younger set. I think this could be one memorable milestone festival - even if scheduling already has me concerned.....

Blues Fest management are toying with us ... There is no way Ray could be on the bill. He's all booked up in April: http://www.raylamontagne.com/tour.phpI've done a random selection of checking the unannounced artists' personal sites, and 3 out of 4 had Blues Fest in their calendar. But not Ray :-(

It's especially good to see that many great acts, Lucinda, Tinariwen (nice if they really play twice on Saturday like the schedule says), DbT, Ruthie Foster, Watermelon Slim, Seasick Steve will be playing twice at Bluesfest and great that Matisyahu seems to be playing too but sad that Ben Kweller didn't make the list as he is playing the West Coast Festival and in Sydney and Brisbane.

oooh SydneyDMBfan, don't want to be a downer but a lot of those acts appeared at Bluesfest '07 - is there a chance these could be links to old artist material? I was under the impression that Bluesfest changed the security on the site to prevent "hackers" like my brother who worked it out last time. I haven't had much of a chance to check out the line-up, but hope that I am very wrong in saying that these may be incorrect.....

Checking links were available gives a reassuring confirmation, no impossible clashes and a few empty Aprils! soI would think 80% reliable. If you look at the artists websites, most of them have nothing listed for Easter however, I have found 3 that do say that they are playing Bluesfest. Adds credence to the list.

Artists like the Special Beat are definitely playing, they have been on the playing schedule since day one. What is weird is that the Ray page is also updated for 2009 - perhaps like Taj the contracts were ready to go before he pulled out?
