TEXAN QUEEN & KINGS OF WESTERN SWING, THE HOT CLUB OF COWTOWN

The first Australian tour by Bob Dylan's favourite young Western Swing combo, The Hot Club of Cowtown, featuring Elana James.

Following in the tradition of great Texan acts like BOB WILLS & HIS TEXAS PLAYBOYS and MILTON BROWN & HIS MUSICAL BROWNIES, the Austin- based trio owe much to the hot swing and jazz of the '20's, '30's
and '40's, as well as the cowboy and country/folk influences which give the music it's regional flavour.

The Hot Club of Cowtown were formed in the mid-90s by Elana James and guitarist Whit Smith, who met through an ad in the music section of New York City's Village Voice. More than a decade later, having grown to be the most globe-trotting, hard-swinging Western Swing trio on the planet, they got a call inviting them out on the road with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson .

In the United States, the Hot Club of Cowtown has been featured on NPR's All Things Considered, The Grand Ol' Opry, A Prairie Home Companion, and numerous other radio and television programs.
In the UK they have appeared extensively on BBC Radio, BBC TV's "Later" with Jools Holland and have played the Glastonbury Festival.

I actually skimmed over that Newcastle date. Maybe I'll try to get up there. Always liked the old Gallipoli Club

Is the Wicko still going? I thought I'd heard something about it either shutting or ending live music?

Tickets to the Newcastle show include tattoo viewing - strictly one view per person.

Gleny Rae & The Tamworth Playboys are now opening the show at 4.45. Doors are 4.00pm instead of 5.00, Cowtown still starting about 5.45 as before.

Still a few tickets left from the venue now if you hurry!

Yair that was me....It shut down for 1 week when they evicted Baz. But I'm happy to say they kept Abby the best barmaid in the world and some of the music. Go there after HCoCT - 5 min walk
