Local Dr McAnulty said... "People need to be careful to avoid mosquito bites,"

There is no specific treatment for mossie viruses. Barmah Forest virus and Ross River virus occurs in rural, coastal and bushy areas.

To avoid infection, people should:

* Wear light coloured, loose fitting clothes with long sleeves and long trousers: mosquitoes can bite through tight clothes.

* Apply mosquito repellent regularly to exposed areas (as directed on the container).
Repellent containing DEET or Picaridin are most effective.

* Ensure flyscreens on windows and doors of houses, are in good order.

* When camping, take precautions such as using flyscreens on caravans and tents, and by sleeping under mosquito nets.

* Control mosquitoes that enter your tent or van with a 'knock-down' insecticide aerosol spray, especially about half an hour before going to bed.

Personally I prefer eucalyptus & Teatree oil to deter the wining little b#$%^&*s.
smell ya later!

Didn't meet any. Did they stay away? Outnumbered? Were other people kindly acting as decoys for me?
