Stumbled on this piece about Doc Watson last night: http://www.thegalacticgazette.com/2005/12/blue-ridge-mountain-blues.html

You gotta love this: "Everytime I see Doc play, I become internally divided because I can't decide whether I should go home and do nothing but practice or just give up the guitar entirely. Plainly, with musicians like Doc out there, I and other guitar players have very little to add."

Good read Reg. I particularly like Hornbeck's analogy of Doc Watson's blues......"There is blues in the man's voice;blues, like a lost and lonely dog. Blues
like hunger and blues like death. Blues, as if all the pain in the world poured out of his mouth like blood from a cut, like the sound of Christ's breath as he
walked with the cross"
Maybe more people could express their blues through music instead of violence, bitchin'& moanin' & self pity. God, I love the blues

Doc Watson is one of those guys that exemplifies everything good and pure about country music. Humour, poignancy, musical instincts and flat out skill all rolled together.

Certainly a good read Reg.
