Hey Michael,

rumour has it that you'll be in Madison, Wisconsin for the April 4th protest of Gov. Walker and his idiotic policies. Good on ya! I know the good people of Wisconsin will appreciate it!
I look forward to your show in a few weeks here at Bluesfest!!

Hey Michael,

Can't wait to see you at Bluesfest it’s my 8th year and I am only 12. If you could play Hey Hey Hey or Hey World (Don't Give up version), either Thursday or Saturday, that would be great!

And if you get a chance, love to see you with the Blind Boys, that was an amazing set at the Beacon Theatre.

Michael, all of your songs have amazing meanings so any would be gratefully received, but I really started listening to you when I was younger when you released Home. Any song off there. By the way I love eating red beans and rice because of your song.

Peace.

I have never seen a Michael Franti gig or listened to his music.

I took a punt and purchased the $15 DVD for sale in the tent, which is of a 2003 Sydney concert.

It is excellent, leading to me playing it regularly.

"An artist never really chooses when and where they will play.It is for promoters to make offers. It comes down as to whether tours are financially viable." Quote John Mayall.

Funny, I was at that show - the DVD is a 10 track edit of the actual 2+ hour gig, that I view as perhaps the pinnacle of Spearhead's live prowess. That said, I felt the DVD didn't do justice to what I saw that night. It was less than a year later that his beatboxer/MC Radioactive departed the band, and if I'm being honest, I don't think they've been the same band since.

As far as recommendations, I'd have to nominate Stay Human, despite the insistent "radio segment" spoken word sections between songs. I ripped it to iPod without those bits, and enjoyed it much more after that.

I would request that in future you play longer gigs you have too many albums and too many good tracks to merit anything less that a 2.5 hr gig. C'mon Mike happy to pay and extra few bucks in the ticket price for an extra few tunes. This was the first tour that was played without belting out a track that from an unreleased album - its always magic to hear completly new stuff at the gigs. Although i rate the gigs I have seen this year as an A you need to bring back your A+ game amigo!

Long live Chuck Norris.

When I saw MichaelFranti on this site I though it was someone having a joke. Still not certain one one or the other but anyway - Michael Franti was one of my highlights of the festival, just brilliant. Thank you Michael Franti for an hour or so of pure happiness. Please come bcak next year and make it 2 hours of pure pleasure.
