Love to see them on BF line up, but highly recommend seeing them as part of the Sydney Festival 11 Jan at the Hyde Park Barracks. $48.

They played BF back in 04 (or was it 05?) and were the highlight that year in my humble opine.

Go see!

Buddy Guy is without doubt the best guitar player alive.......the way he plays is beyond anyone. Amen

Love those deep funky grooves, and the girl knows how to shake that booty.

If one can give up the chance to see Grace Jones ( I'm sure I can) the other Jones girl is FREE

Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings are the unrivalled frontrunners of old-school soul and funk. Spearheads of a revivalist movement, they conjure – and embody – the vintage vinyl, analogue essence of the Stax and Motown sound of the 60s.

Last gracing the Sydney Festival stage in 2007 backing Lou Reed, Sharon Jones returns front and centre stage, bringing her own classic soul and retro funk stylings to Festival First Night with 9-piece musical masters, The Dap-Kings.

Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings are also performing as part of the Beck's Festival Bar series.

Heading out for the East Coast / Lord knows I've paid some dues gettin' through, / Tangled up in blues.

Caught their show in Edinburgh last night. What can I say? Professional with a capital "P". The Real Deal (also capitalised deliberately). There might be a phase of revivalist-type bands and false nostalgia for past eras at present, but this band well and truly transcend any of that. They are totally authentic in what they do - band totally crisp, and a singer who just doesn't know how to quit. Sharon Jones is a gem, and it is indeed a crime that her and the DAP Kings haven't achieved a higher level of commercial recognition. I don't see how anyone couldn't enjoy their show, from 5 year olds to 70 year olds and all in between.

For anyone unfamiliar with Daptone records and how they operate, an internet search should prove an interesting read.
