My wish for the next announcement:

Alabama 3
Gillian Welch & David Rawlings
and
Leon Russell announced for a Saturday or Sunday spot.

I don't ask for much........

I'm with you, G. It is actually already an incredibly impressive line-up. The scope and quality of the performers is also far beyond what I would have thought possible when I first started going to the fest back in the 90's. Sure the intimacy and vibe of the earlier fests was fantastic, but you never dreamed of being able to access such a stellar collection of artists as are on display this year.

My only real wish is to be able to have the opportunity to get to see all of the artists who are already coming. A second show from PFunk looks unlikely which is very sad, but fingers are still crossed for Leon...

The Cure - now there's a suggestion! One of the best shows I have ever seen was The Cure at the iconic Seaview Ballroom somewhere around 1980. When the band started and the packed crowd started to bounce, I swear the parquet dancefloor also bounced about 20 cms!

And Ry Cooder - one of the most important musicians around and a killer slide player - and I mean killer, peerless.

playing with Dylan

and the Waifs playing the spot before them

When you're lost in the rain in Juarez
And it's Eastertime too
And your gravity fails
And negativity don't pull you through
Don't put on any airs
When you're down on Rue Morgue Avenue
They got some hungry women there
And they really make a mess outta you.

Henry Wagons is touring with the indigo girls so hopefully he'll make a bluesfest appearance as well.

as most overseas artists would be booked-and probably announced by now-maybe chances are better for australian artists.
im with you coke for KILL DEVIL HILLS there were exceptional last time at bluesfest.

I don't want to hang up my rock n roll shoes
I get a good time feeling every time I hear those blues.

that's the way ballrooms are built, the floor is intended to 'have some bounce' in them

i fondly remember seeing ian dury and the blockheads at brisbane's cloudland ballroo back in the 70's and boy did the floor bounce that night, utterly brilliant, and what did lord mayor clem jones do to the Clodland ballroom.....demolished it....progress ....huh :(
