Glenn Cardier and the Sideshow have announced they are playing Thursday and Friday. Seems they were expecting an announcement to be made.

Comms through forum not a priority until it relates to alleged criticism involving personal abuse then they are all over it.

Which is a little sad given this thread is all about the music and maximising our enjoyment at the festival if only we could get the timetable. Brick wall

TBH,

I still haven’t got my ticket – I’ve seen just about every act listed. I go every year. I’m on the fence and times running out – if there was something along the lines of – “yes there’s another announcement and it includes the type of stuff that’s missing from the current schedule” I’d probably just lock it in. . Would love to see another announcement, there are lots of amazing local acts so we are at capacity there the announcement should include a few internationals It’s missing a respected reggae act – please give the wailers a year off – they played the same set 5 days in a row last year (no criticism) there’s no respected rap artist or the likes of Steve Earl or Ry Cooder or some bloke like Citizen Cope or a Fishbone. It’s currently a great line up for those that haven’t been 100 times before. I just want some x factor. The fact that someone is choosing not communicate additional acts are coming or whatever is happening is certainly affecting sales as im not the only one. There are more people disabling their facebook accounts than there is joining so to rely solely on FB as a form of communication is flawed.

anyone think there is a chance for these guys to be announced last minute given the new release & the fact they owe the festival for cancelling in 2015? would be a nice addition in my opinion so hopefully it happens.

I thought the same thing....30th anniversary and all. And Thursday still has no headliner.

My viewpoint is that the only Headliner is Iggy Pop.
Last year I had Leon Bridges,The New Power Generation times 2,Chic & Lionel Ritchie.
About 20 spots to be filled based on last year.
Despite the weaker Au $,and Jazzfest, there are a multitude of bands who do not cost the earth.
Particularly in the area of Blues.

Black Keys have just released a new song, "Lo/Hi". Wishful thinking perhaps, but............

The black man had the blues
No one knew what they was gonna do
But Tchaikovsky had the news...."

Thanks Ranger for your comments (though rare these days !)

So true. But there are still some great blues and soul acts that could be at BF !

Basically if the Black Keys (with side shows by Dan Auerbach Solo and The Arcs) happened, I could die a happy man.

The ARCS are playing in Georgia on the 25th of April though, so don't know how likely that is, and I doubt they'd be coming without doing 1,000 side shows.

In lieu of that, Just get Matt Andersen to cancel his current tour and play Blues 5 days in a row.

I feel that whoever they get will be a Bluesfest Exclusive as time is running out for bands to come over, do sideshows and sell tickets with only 1 month to go....
Bands like Midnight Oil that could be a last minute announced headliner?

It depends who they want to book.
Rick Estrin was flown to Narooma to play one set,he told me because someone pulled out.
Roy Rogers played one set there.
There are literally hundreds of bands out there.
Who are not Headliners.

In a year where Bluesfest is presenting
The 2019 Grammy Winner ... Best Traditional Blues album.. Ben Harper
2019 Grammy winner Best Contemporary Blues Album ..Fantastic Negrito

BLUES
Award Winners 2018 by the Blues Foundation
Contemporary Female Blues Artist of the Year..Samantha Fish
Contemporary Blues Male artist of the Year ... Keb Mo
Koko Taylor Award Traditional Blues Artist of the Year...Ruthie Foster
Soul Blues Female Artist of the Year ... Mavis Staples

Isn’t THAT the most current Blues Award Winers and Grammy Award winners EVER presented on the one Bluesfest..?

We are getting very tired of the ongoing unjustified negativity on this forum..
Truly... enjoy yourselves.

Dear Moderator,
I agree with this decision.
There are people on this forum who are incredibly ungrateful.
The removal of the forum is the lesson that needs to be learnt.

Neither myself or my travel companion know anything about Grammys.
Rosie Ledet said to me that" Terrence Simeon won the Grammy".
Doesn't sway my opinion that I much prefer Rosie.
I favour the obscure but you cannot run a viable music promotion business on those principles.
The Magic Band
Larry Graham
Suzanne Vega
DMB
The Paladins
Candye Kane Band
Jeff Beck'
Joss Stone
Gregg Allman
Aaron Neville
Dr John
Government Mule
War
Seun Kuti & Egypt 80
Jimmie Vaughan
C W Stoneking
The Soul Rebels
Nikki Hill
Boz Scaggs
James Cotton
Booker T
Robben Ford
Charlie Musselwhite
I would not have a clue how many of them have won a Grammy.
It does not interest me.
But when that is the lineup for the 25th Anniversary,it sets a very high bar to attain.
And it underlines consumer expectations going forward.
No point operating a forum if you do not wish to hear opinions.
Time to dismantle it.
Let's move on.
Then all is judged on ticket sales & numbers of attendees at sets.

I completely disagree

There are some ungrateful people but not all.

As I have said before.

I agree with the be nice or leave.

But not everyone will be a cheer leader. And a forum is a place for divergent opinions

Simple.

Are people not allowed to politely question some things about BluesFest on here?

Removing the Forum would be a short sighted decision and would be not showing respect to many people who have championed BluesFest for lots of years.

I have no idea what goes on at FaceBook, but does everyone tow the party line over there?

You seem to regularly confuse negativity with observation.

There is significantly less artists booked for this year. The timetable is historically always finalised this close to the festival. There is less 'headliner' status acts on this years bill. There is talk of the festival starting at 2pm every day rather than 12pm.

No matter how you swing it - something is off this year. I don't pretend to know what's going on behind the scenes but please stop accusing the loyal patrons of negativity when they are simply pointing out the obvious.
