what's the average age of the audience attending this festival?
I've got tickets and now I'm worried I might look like a sad middle aged parent. Someone please put my mind at rest.
Thanks :-)

The fest attracts a younger crowd as the years roll on.
But don't worry as you will find quite a few of us old codgers still shuffling about.
One of the things that i like about bf is when it come to the atendees you find all demographics.

My guess is that you will be a very happy middle aged parent. Age is not generally an issue at the bluesfest - just dance with whoever is closest...

Jethro Tull are playing (one of the main acts) that should answer your question. They formed in the early 60's the blind boys first formed in the 50's, BB King is at least 40. You won't feel old or just take in a few deep breaths when toots hits the stage and all your worries will disappear..

Though the previous advice is of the best intent, it misses the fact that if you worry about such things, then you should be worried.
It also misses the fact that with the range of tents, there is a specific demographic, varying with each act.

My advice would be to spend about eight hours on the net each day researching all the acts and prognosticating an expected generational attendance, then visit those acts that fit your research
Of course this is a brand new area of investigation and will need daily tabulations of your finding to fine tune the outcome for the next day

By day six you might well find that there is no such thing as a sad middle aged parent at Bluesfest
Just old buggers behaving disgracefully.

Heading out for the East Coast / Lord knows I've paid some dues gettin' through, / Tangled up in blues.

To put your mind at rest, I am a few months away from getting the pension and have been to the last twelve bluesfests and will still be in the front row for the acts I want to see this year.
Greybeard sums it up perfectly in his last sentence.

You have to wait a few months before being a pensioner? don't let that worry you johnnymac as i'm sure you have plenty of bluefests left in you.
I've been on the pension for 30 + years & i've made it to 8 bluesfests.
I like to think i balance things rather well by (a)looking extremly young for my age & (b) acting in a very immature manner for said age. :)

My sister (19) and I (28) are coming for our first Bluesfest this year and i was wondering the same thing :) It will be nice to have a slightly older auidence than what I have done so previously at BDO's. Hopefully more considerate to the person standing next to them!!!

Love & Gravy xo

for the last few bluesfests, there has been a tendancy to put bands that appeal to the younger crowd in ono tent-MOJO,and bands that appeal to an older crowd in the other tents. so far this has been successful.
personally as an older festival goer i have not been near the MOJO tent for the last 2 festivals, only because every band i wanted to see was in the other tents. the exception was john fogerty, who was in MOJO. my 2 sons-in their twentys usually spend most of the festival in MOJO but we usually meet for meals-guess who pays? it will be interesting to see where dylan is placed this year.
p.s. what was interesting with john fogerty was that all the younger festival goers knew all the words to his songs.

I rarely go into Mojo late in the day (few exceptions including Spearhead & John Fogerty a few years ago) & that has been the case since the Red Devil days.
I did go in briefly last year & was suprised that they had repeater speakers at the back so one of the problems of being at the rear with loads of young people holding like conversations & like talking all the time about like nothing has gone.
You will still see a lot of great acts in the other tents though.
Just don't take chairs.
