Yep....a sad day indeed. Best-ever punk band by a country mile, and part of the soundtrack of my mid to late teens.

Very sad to hear. I went to the same school as him and remember a pre-buzzcocks performance from Shelley and band at a 6th form show to mark them leaving school. A bit before punk - hence amongst their setlist was Quo's Caroline.
An underrated songwriter. RIP
