Ringo Starr's All Star Band just announced Japan tour that finishes up on April 11 before US leg in August. After the success of the Blues Bros and Booker T's Review - Ringo's band, which features Colin Hay, would fit in really well

Aside from the Boomerang artists, I’m not sure that there’s much left to announce!

I still reckon there's about another 20 or so to be named, excluding Boomerang.....and I reckon there's at least 2 mid to high range headliners in that too.

Yes Andrew

Like Jazz, Funk, Rythmn and Bljues and Soul (to quote Jon Cleary)

The Stray Cats start their Summer Tour in Spain on June 21. They could do a sound check at Byron in April??

For that matter, there are no conflicting dates for:
ZZ Top celebrating 50 years
Van Morrison - although he starts in Vegas on April 23
Sting
Earth Wind and Fire have a gap between March 30 and April 25
Steve Miller Band and Peter Frampton haven't any bookings

But we are fighting an uphill battle with the 50th year of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. It runs from April 25 to May 5.

Just about all of the JazzFest line up is locked in now.

With only a few additions to come.

Yeah we also haven't bought tickets yet, to be honest the only thing on the lineup so far that really excites me is Iggy Pop.
We've bought tickets to see him at the Opera House.
There still a few things I'd like to see but nothing from my wish list.
At this stage I'd be surprised if any big names get added.

Stephen Cummings has announced an album of new material, an anthology and a national tour for April / May. Is it a stretch to assume he will be part of the next announcement?

On the face of it,I agree.

"An artist never really chooses when and where they will play.It is for promoters to make offers. It comes down as to whether tours are financially viable." Quote John Mayall.

More than enough talent and quality acts on the card to keep us interested and occupied for five days- and more to come.

Music the past and future.

That amazes me. There’s about 20 or 30 that have got me excited. I don’t really care if I’ve seen the bands before. I’ll still enjoy their shows. Admittedly it’s the unknown music that is usually the bonus and there’s enough new music this year to keep me going. It’s the music that gets us all there in the first place but it’s the hanging out at the festival for the 5 days and all that that entails which also does it for me. I think it’s insane to even think about not going because it seems to be missing 1 or 2 big names but that’s just my opinion and each to their own. Having said all that, Donny20 has been 23 years in a row, I can understand the need for a break. I’ve only been for 10.

Does it really shift tickets? - I agree with the concept as it is noble but is it just a side show for Canadian tourists etc. it will generate more of a buzz than that lady from Melbourne that farts around on stage who is called a genius by the Tripplw J listeners and first year of college kids. I listened to her for 30 seconds and she reminded me of my old school band when we decided we would stop doing covers and be artistic (a load of toss).

Giz a big name, lil Wayne doco on NITV - the Carter, If it’s on NITV it can fit into boomerang. That would be cool and bit o x factor.

I recorded Paul Kelly at the opera house - I turn it on when I have trouble sleeping. Show those Sydney crowds in all their glory - everyone texting and staring at the floor pretending they knew his songs when they could be bothered to interact.

A lady sang one song - she was average at best.

They would need to announce that soon as a tour with multiple shows needs a few month's for the tix to sell. It's getting a bit intense as these big name acts maybe aren't available or are to dam expensive, deceased or have retired completely.August 2017 Stevie and the Pretenders were announced for a November run of dates and that sold well overall so a big name would have to be announced soon for enough time for promotion, unless they are exclusive to BF.....

Won`t be any more big names, and I have no interest in Boomerang. Is there anything more boring than a bloke playing a didgeredoo,I think not.If you want some real indigenous talent, get the great guitar player Steve Edmonds and that bloke with the big beautiful voice Doug Parkinson.Steve`s played there before ,discovered him in the old Juke Joint at Red Devil, what a player. Don`t think Doug`s ever played there, but what a talent.

Just a thought........ the Bluesfest 2019 Spotify playlist has all the artists currently announced plus one that doesn't appear in any announcement or schedule. A genuine mistake or a teaser? The artist?? None other than Van Morrison. Mmmm.

The Van Morrison track in the playlist is a duet with Mavis Staples.

Ahh, that'll explain it. Thought it was too good to be true. Thanks.
