Please do not bow to the pressure over booking a 50/50 male female split or what ever. This festival is truly is the greatest festival in Australia by a long way.

Please rise above the nit pickery of social media and social justice warriors and just keep booking the best acts male or female.

This festival means an extreme amount to a lot of people in Australia. Every Easter a 5 day musical feast of almost all genres. It’s such a rich and diverse festival and the organisers should be extremely proud of their hard work.

An amazing first lineup! Can’t wait for the next announcement what ever gender is on the bill.

I agree with Skott, just go for quality and ignor the PC crowd. Rock and Roll is all about rebellion and doing your own thing regardless of what people may think, so keep being brave Bluesfest and make the right decisions for your punters based on great musicianship just like you always have.

Write a wise saying and your name will live on forever,,, Anonymous

I happened to mention on FB about some more female artists being announced. That is based on my wish list, not trying to be PC.

Perhaps on opening night we could have a motivational speech from Catyln Jenner who could introduce her son in law Kanye West to play the part of the now traditional Thursday night rap megastar.

Catyln is scheduled to travel with her new (rumoured) fiancé Sophia next Easter as part of their upcoming reality TV show.

We could do the live triple J broadcast with Cat Sophia and Kanye.

This will tick a lot of equality boxes and allows the show to progress as natural. It’s lacked that Hollywood pizzazz over the last few years. I’m totally pumped just thinking that I created the concept.

I think the pressure group made up of a group of unknown alleged female artists that hate Australia should be able to dictate the line up of this festival, not sure why the festival gave them oxygen..

Great first line up too by the way.

Was thinking the same thing myself. Enjoyed her in 2017, so would be good to see her and Kurt on stage.

I much prefer female artists

When you look at the lineups from the most recent festivals BF has certainly promoted female and diverse lineups with many female headliners. This is without consciously pandering to the bleating of the SJW. There is no need to change.
The BF audience dont particularly care if the artist is male, female, black or white. What matters to us is the quality of the music.
If it ain't broke then don't try and fix it.
This is Bluesfest not The Voice.

100% agree.

Cant believe that Bluesfest of all festivals is copping flak over this. The whole festival is a monument to, and celebration of, diversity and inclusivity.

And incredible, diverse music!

Do what you always do. Bluesfest is the leader in this world.

+1

Although I have missed all the afore mentioned bleating, not being big on most social media and stuff.

If the line up was the reverse (male female split) and a bloke complained he would be shot down as an advocate of inequality.

The reality is that BF would go bankrupt if they pushed a female dominated trans intersex rainbow fest. The paying public just aren’t that interested. Look as the Sydney festival this year record low attendance, they won’t publish the figures due to pressure from these types of groups. Drag acts night after night, tickets for 75% off every day. People will pay to see quality artists regardless of sex or orientation. Some brainwashed folk might feel pressured to pay money to see a man in a dress preform sub standard shite. This is where we are heading by the looks.

The only winners at the type of festival they are pushing would be the sniffer dog handlers.

Why would having more female artists (and no one is really expecting 50/50..) lead to your "trans, intersex, rainbow fest" fantasy ?
I don't get it?
No ones asking for "drag acts" at Bluesfest.

The trolls that started this “debate” have asked for the above mate. I’m not referencing them to avoid giving them any more oxygen.

It’s interesting that Maccain is the only person to mention a “female dominated trans intersex rainbow fest”.

Don’t shoot the messenger matey:

To quote these whack job trolls that started this fake news segment.

Bluesfest Byron Bay. One of the biggest music festivals across so called Australia

You have shown women and non binary musicians that they don’t deserve a spot”

FOUR acts you have included with women in them are white.

“Not sure what “so called Australia” means, sounds like this mob hate everyone.

Non binary musicians? Perhaps via the busking comp there might be an opening if the festival is to book acts not for their talent but purely for their demographic.

As for the comment about white females clearly they missed last year most of the female acts weren’t white.

It’s just complete and utter bullshit from some druggie dj with no talent or knowledge of Bluesfest - by talking about this gives it oxygen.

Perhaps Bluesfest should hire that david leyonhjelm to respond respectfully to these complete and utter idiot trolls.

Would be good to have them debate the director on triple J. I’m sure some wallflower there has put his or her or “their” support behind this imbeciles. The debate would be hilarious considering their lack of knowledge of the festival.

Yep.....we need to stop making rules for minorities. Acknowledge and accept them, yes. But rules & decisions should be made & carried out for the majority....and the vast majority of Bluesfest regulars/attendees, in this instance, would prefer talented performers over any so-called "balance" every day of the week. This is what appears to happen at Bluesfest regardless of extreme left-wing opinion. From my experience, and looking at previous line-ups, there is, and always has been, diversity at this festival in spades.
