Great soul and voice. One of the many great Oz artists I discovered through GTK and Go-Set being marooned in Perth in the 60's.

Sure is- another great musician of the late 60's, thru the 70's and 80's till now. Not talked or remembered a lot but a cornerstone of our rock history. Sadly missed.

We shared the same medical condition (spina bifida) & considering his age I’m surprised he lived as long as he did.
From a bio I saw on tv many years back I’m also surprised he lived through that same lifestyle the music industry is rather infamous for.
He walked on crutches till his 30s after that he was confined to the chair.
When asked how he explained his condition to others he said “depends on if its hot chick asking & if that’s the case I always tell em I was wiped out in an horrific motorcycle accident …sounds way better than I was born like this”
I don’t recall a lot of The Id but more his 70s stuff.
When I went to see Bruce Springsteen a woman came up & asked if I was Jeff st John & when I said no she asked if she could take a selfie saying “I told those old girls with me you were him & im his biggest groupie so just play along with it…being a winery show I think she may have had a tipple or two.
That’s the closest I’ve been to being a rockstar although I had a couple of groupies who were in the 60s -70s age @ bf one year …but that’s another story.

Seen him in the 60`s with the Id,70`s and 80`s.My wife`s not much of a music fan,but I took her to the Playroom[Gold Coast] in the 80`s to see Jeff.I said you have got to see this guy.Well he came out and starting with ''Elenor Rigby the Beatles song. He`d only been going about 30 seconds, and she turned and said ,''Wow this guy has got one of the best viouses ever.''His version of ''Big Time Operater'' was far better than Zoot Money`s origonal one.Sadly missed.

Wow wee, Donny 20,

The Playroom, that brings back some memories, I remember the police raiding it a few times back in the dark old days of Premier Johannes.

Jeff St John will be missed.
