Happy to see Chain in the lineup again.
They are still one of the only bands who play 100% 'Australian Blues'
And they have been around for a while now too.

Will be good to see the clashing headliner due for Thurs night. Opening night needs that bit extra on top of what’s on offer. Keisha is too “pop” for the majority of the faithful - could be the difference between a 3 day and a 5 day pass for more than a few.

Given that Paul Simon has announced a farewell gig in Hyde Park in July is it too much to hope for?

Colin Hay was fantastic at the Tivoli on Wednesday night. His band was very tight and he is a very good story teller between songs.

Same at The Enmore. A 15min Down Under the highlight!

Boomerang stage has been announced.
Looking forward to seeing Yirrmal again, he was excellent last year!
Is that it now? Or are there more spaces left to announce on other stages?

If 75 was this year's magic number, then we look like there are about another seven artists to be announced.

I would have thought a lot more than that. For the last couple of years Boomerang was in a separate section where they could really showcase it. Apart from Boomerang the last couple of years averaged about 33/34 acts a day. This year they're up to around 24/25 acts a day so unless they are doing things very differently I would think that they need to add several acts per day (some of which will play a 2nd or 3rd time) to bring it in line with the last number of years. Perhaps I'm totally off the mark. Time will tell.

Announcements have been a bit slow since Christmas. I would have thought with only 7 weeks until the festival all acts would be locked in and times announced by now. Maybe I'm being too eager.

Interview with Ian Moss in today's Herald.
He would be an excellent inclusion for the festival???

I'm hoping for 1 more announcement this week and then the last one in a couple of weeks when they put their playing schedule out. Here's hoping.

Well Toto are ruled out. They are in England for Easter on their 40th Anniversary tour.

If Boomerang is not counted, then quite a few more to come. Got to remember that most years a few of the already-announced artists add one or two shows in, which helps fill the daily requirements. Got to admit that it is a bit light on in the top-end for mine....and a couple of rollicking blues rock artists wouldn't go astray either.

Blues rock and rockabilly have got a bit of a raw deal the last few years. There's still time to right the wrongs.

in the latest email peter noble says we are close to the final artist announcement so i would assume that will come in the next week or so & hopefully playing times won't be too far behind that as i always like to take a good 3 or 4 weeks to figure out the schedule to get the most out of the festival.

Totally agree. The hybrid blues genres need to be covered better. There are SO many great blues rock artists out there.
Though I have to say, that if you include jam bands as blues rock, this year could be worse ......really looking forward to Gov't Mule (who I haven't seen before as it is only my third Bluesfest), Walter Trout & Eric Gales (again).
A bit more Joanne Shaw Taylor, Philip Sayce, Gugul Blues Shelter (Gugul Power Trio), Record Company, Marcus King Band and the like wouldn't go astray however.
