The only Led Zeppelin album I ever owned was 4,which I sold.
The heavy sound of the band is not me.
I overwhelmingly favour Jeff Beck over Jimmy Page because he is much more versatile in the sounds he explores.
Robert Plant has evolved and my recently developed interest in him has only occurred since he teamed up with Allison Krauss.
With his current band,he explores world music rather than folk, which only continues to keep him on a higher plain in my book, than if he had remained in his historic old fashioned package.
I did not see him at Bluesfest 2013 due to an allegiance to Iggy.
With the knowledge that he will again attract an enormous crowd at Bluesfest ,if he plays Auckland again and the date is attainable,I will fly there rather than trying to compete for a spot in Mojo.
He uses his passionate instrument of voice as an art form with the acute knowledge he has accumulated.
His band make wonderful sounds with the acoustic guitar work of Liam Tyson being compelling viewing.
I thought it was a coup for Bluesfest to have booked him in 2013 and I again extend my grateful thanks for a rebooking as I did not expect him to be back so soon.

Is it just me or does Brisbane have zero sideshows so far next year?
I know we don't always get the big stuff but we usually get quite a few sideshows at the Tivoli...

Brisbane is only 180kms north of Byron Bay.
Not very far to drive in NZ terms, let alone the vast road distances you have in Au.
I will drive 160kms to Dunedin for a show by local artists.

We already have Sunday tickets for Bluesfest anyway but I meant in general and not just for myself, some people don't have cars.
Plus you have to add hotels on top of that as driving for 3 hours home after a gig isn't smart driving. Very likely to be tired.

Bluesfest is a festival not a concert, and should be embraced as such.
There are many festival goers who do not use cars to attend there.
Trains & buses operate to convey you from Brisbane to Byron and back.
I have used them.
I do not believe in spending valuable dollars on hotels for what is only a bed.

Paul Rodgers is long overdue. Hope Peter can convince him to make an appearance soon.

hoping to see neil young announced to make up for his no-show this year... he has a new album with POTR out next week & as we know POTR are already playing all but one day of bluesfest, so would make sense to see neil come & play.

Speaking of Neil: his recent archival release HITCHHIKER - an unreleased recording from 1976 - is simply put another David Briggs produced masterpiece

Ps
I actually heard that rumour on RRR today that he'll get announced for bluesfest - but all neil fans know - never hold your breath

PPS
NeilYoungArchives.com launches this Friday

PPPS
the new vinyl reissue of Harvest Moon sounds amazing

This year's Santana experience was enough to convince me to buy tickets to Robert Plant's Opera House gig. Allows me to avoid the masses and see someone else.

As Roger Waters will have left Australia at the end of February, maybe David Gilmour would come to Australia at the end of March.

Would love to see David Gilmour!

Robert Plant does not need a Led Zep reunion.
He has evolved and moved on to more interesting musical packages.
The chances of an Auckland gig pre Perth look promising.
CHCH should be the other NZ Gig.

I think they said about a week ago that it was coming very soon.
So could even be later this week?

Apparently he has cancelled Ozz and NZ shows early in 2018 due to family illness.

Please have a listen Kesha's incredible album Rainbow. Rolling Stone named it at number 4 in the best albums of 2017, and she was nominated for Grammys. She is the real deal and we're excited to have her.

This review suggests her show will not be dull. Keep an open mind I say.

Overall some homework to do on artists have not heard of but can report the following:

Kesha latest album is nothing if not varied in terms of genres covered and contributors - eagles of death metal and Dolly Parton! Definitely worth another listen or two.
Mrs Nelson very happy about Melissa Etheridge return.
Holy holy are excellent live
Harts- missed him in 2016 so good to have another chance so soon
Thursday line-up looking very interesting
