Thanks for this GB...priceless. Lightnin' Hopkins is my favourite blues musician. This short film is as much a social documentary about life in black communities in east Texas as it is about the music of Lightnin' (Lightnin's description of being picked up by the police for illegal parking is poignant). The film maker, Les Blank, has produced some wonderful films about musicians and the communities they live in - music from back porches and the streets rather than the lights and razzle dazzle of clubs. I've got a couple of DVD's of his work - Always For Pleasure shot in New Orleans (with some priceless footage of Professor Longhair) and J'ai Ete au Bal (a wonderful film about cajun and zydeco music shot in rural southern Louisiana). He was also Werner Herzog's cinematographer in Fitzcarraldo. I was very sad to hear he died only 4 months ago.

Channelling our friend Kim-mo-sah-bee

AAA) It is hypocritical of you to call Jennifer O L D
BBB) It is logical that it is Jennifer, analysing the data, facts and circumstance
CCC) It is from the T.P's album She's the One
DDD) Jenny as we will call her, appeared in a film titled She's the One ~ do you see a connection
EEE) T.P contributed music to the film including two versions of "Walls"
Snap out of it before I do something silly I tell myself as I slap my cheek

Have a look at this from about 10 years ago...Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood, Marc Mann (beautiful guitar work) and Prince absolutely cutting loose at the end.

This is one of the most amazing drum solos I've seen - a snare and two cymbals. Derrick Tabb of Rebirth Brass Band:

thanks RR he's pretty bloody good- would like to see what he could do with a few more strings though. Watched several clips and he has a good voice and great songs if they are his own.

he is brilliant.
black people have more rhythm & dance than white people.
it is natural to them.
the first person that I always think of in this respect is bo diddley.

"An artist never really chooses when and where they will play.It is for promoters to make offers. It comes down as to whether tours are financially viable." Quote John Mayall.
