J J Grey and Mofro clip

This clip was recommended in the latest Alligator e-note
They did include this warning
Quote:
Warning--not for the easily offended! You'll never look at "action figures" the same way. Have a laugh!

I've been getting into True Blood, the sexy new vampire soap on the Foxtel Showcase channel - it's got great tunes: the opening credits song, Bad Things by Jace Everett is mesmerizing.

Check out Jace's myspace page to hear the full version of this song amongst others:

http://www.jaceeverett.com/

And to top it off, the song that leads off the 1st episode is by none other than Mr. C.C. Adcock himself. In fact, in episode 10, C.C. & band (including Nick Curran) appear in the show as the bar band. I'm still waiting the see that one!

I had the good fortune to meet C.C.'s bass player, Jason Burns, after the Stray Cats gig up in Brissy a coupla weeks ago. He was the double bass tech for Lee Rocker and is also the creative force behind King Doublebass. His myspace page is also a good link:

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=8401134

He informed me that C.C.'s working on a new album which is set to come out in the next few months. The only down side to all this is that apparently C.C.'s not gonna play any gigs until the new album comes out - so it looks like we may not get to see him live when we're over in N'awlins for jazzfest!

Good call Sharleen....on 2 counts. I made a special point to watch True Blood after Dexter
last night and loved it ! Took a wee while to get into it but well worth it. A bit weird hearing
our Anna with a southern accent tho' ! Now a "must watch".
And Jace Everett's "Bad Things" is so perfect too. I'd not heard of him before but have now
bought his whole album from iTunes.
So thanks..always good to hear new music.
Cheers,
Don

Glad you liked the show, Don - I know I'm hooked on it! That southern accent
does bring back memories of home - it cracked me up when one character stated
with a shudder: "There might even be some people from Arkansas there!"
Besides lovely Anna putting on the drawl, the actor who plays Jason is from
Australia and vampire Bill is an English actor. So it's a real multi-cultural cast.

I'd never heard of Jace Everett before either but that opening tune really grabbed
me so I looked on the True Blood website to find out who it was. How's the rest of
his album? Did you get his first one "Jace Everett" or the later release "Old New
Borrowed Blues"?

Bass drum is swinging

This is a lady from Texas named Carolyn Wonderland.

The tune is Misunderstood from the album miss understood.

She likes to incorporate elements of Blues, Country, Swing, Zydeco, Surf, Gospel, Soul, and some nights, maybe even a Cumbia into the musical mix.
