Sad to hear news of the passing of Alex Chilton. Once mainstream singer with the Box Tops in the late 60's, he became semi recluse but at the same time an edgier musician outside of the mainstream. Rumoured to have sat out Katrina in a Bourbon Street bar (either total myth or he found himself trapped there when it was too late to get out!! However he was on the "missing" list for a while). I had often hoped Peter could cajole him for a visit to bluesfest. A totally unique individual. He'll be greatly missed.

I note that "# 1 Record " and "Radio City" were re-released last year on one CD.

These early 70's albums on the Stax Label were deleted for many years.

I did not pick them up until they were re-released on Ace Records in 1986.

Put them on the turntable this afternoon.

Very nice uplifting poppy sound.

Definitely worth adding to your collection if you do not have them.

"An artist never really chooses when and where they will play.It is for promoters to make offers. It comes down as to whether tours are financially viable." Quote John Mayall.
