Ry Cooder - The Prodigal Son.

Thanks Cokebloke...I finally got around to buying it and what a gem of righteous music! A poke in the eye of the orange buffoon and his followers.

I trust that Ry is on permanent invite to bluesfest and that in the not too distant future he will say yes.

Be great to see his name for a future bf ……but the day it happens I’ll be screaming blue murder! 😱 😉

I'm revisiting Boz Scaggs! He might be termed "yacht music" but he still does wonderful blues. Especially his early stuff!

Re Ry Cooder...
He was confirmed for Bluesfest’s 30th
But, subsequently decided he no longer wants to tour outside the US.
Thanks

Loving Yola's album "Walk Through Fire"
Lovely mix of Country, Gospel and Bacharach melodies.

The Beasts - Still Here

Beasts of Bourbon Kim Salmon, Charlie Owen, Boris Sujdovic, Tony Pola and Tex Perkins reinventing themselves as the beasts.
I notice a couple of covers from Warren Zevon & Frank Zappa are included on this album.

After an emotional final performance with the Beasts of Bourbon, Tex Perkins thought of
getting the band's members, past and present into a recording studio just to celebrate the
band and see what resulted.

Sadly, bassist Brian Hooper died a week after the show.
But weeks later former Beasts Charlie Owen, Boris Sujdovic, Tony Pola, Spencer Jones, Kim
Salmon and Tex Perkins assembled without a plan, save for the crazy M.O. employed back in
1983 when the Beasts first recorded The Axemans Jazz in that fateful 8 hour session. As
back then, they went at it!

Songs weren't so much learned as ideas thrown together and recorded the moment they
coalesced.

The result is a collection of pieces with names like 'Pearls Before Swine', 'My Shit's F@#$ed Up
'Drunk On A Train' and 'On My Back' in a raucous celebration of their own Beastliness.
Spencer was sadly only around long enough to make it onto one track a witty observations from the hospital bed entitled 'At The Hospital'.

Playing in my area this week along with another fine band The Johnnys a band I’ve always liked.
