Brilliant thanks Pete ! Where do you find them ?

A mate brought the CD back from France. You'll have to go to her website and buy from there:

http://www.moonlightbenjamin.com

Forget Aus Amazon...last time I looked there it was over $50. Much cheaper to buy direct from the artist :) At least you'll know you'll be one of very very few in Aus to have her music! I'm seriously thinking of missing a day of New Orleans jazzfest to drive to Lafayette and see her at the International Festival de Lousiane, I think she is that good. Read about her...she is a remarkable young woman.

I subscribe to the French streaming service Deezer and they have 3 albums by her. Seems easier

No Pete my thanks are all to you for giving us all a heads up. Her music is tops. Her music may also be on Spotify etc. I do find that Deezer has a broader range of music beyond the more popular, but that is not judgemental !

Again so many thanks for your observations when you were at the Anita Baker gig at Jazzfest. I have been a lifelong fan !

Hey, happy new year !

Cheers Rod. That Anita Baker gig goes down in my memory as one of the most amazing live music experiences of my life.

I have finally laid hands on a copy of Hurray For the Riff Raff's (Alynda Lee Segara) Young Blood Blues. This young woman is THE songwriter of her generation. She has copped a bit of flack for following her muse, but anyway Young Blood Blues is so very close to a masterpiece with lots of New Orleans references. She could tour it (and probably will when I'm too old to go to gigs!) and it would be a sublime experience.

Love this song from it:

I am still uncertain how i get to these but try Postmodern Jukebox. Some of it is a little "Glee" but others are gems like "all about the bass"

Been listening to loads of music :

New Albums
Sean Ardoin - Kreole Rock and Soul - so funky, I love New Orleans music, would be great at Bluesfest. Nominated for a Grammy
Ana Popovic - I like it on top. The whole album is great, from funky to slow blues.
Kirk Fletcher - Hold On

Oldies but goodies
Jeffrey Osborne - New Love
Mel Waiters - The Smaller the club - can’t get enough so damn funky
Donny Hathaway- Jealous Guy
Undisputed Truth - Method to the Madness

Also read some bios:

My name is Darlene Love. The most recorded backup singer. An autobiography and not just about the music business, her personal life as well. Excellent read.

Maurice White my life with Earth Wind and Fire. Another autobiography. Not much info on himself and he was a very private man and more about the band.

Mavis Staples I’ll Take you there. Written by Greg Kot.
