Attended the Chris Wilson fundraiser at the Corner Hotel last night. One hell of a line-up came out in support of a music icon.
Many of Wilson's previous bands reformed for the night. Harem Scarem, Three Kings, Spidermen, Crown of Thorns and the Heinous Dog Blues Band all hit the stage. Shae O'Mara, Kerri Simpson, Jeff Lang and Tim Rogers turned up as guests throughout the night. Each of Chris' sons also played/sang in honour of their father.
If I had a bit more cash, I would have bid on some of the items put up for auction. There were signed items and a few music / concert / merch packs up for grabs. In the end I grabbed a copy of his latest album, featuring the great man on every instrument.

I saw Courtney Barnett a couple of nights back up in Brisbane. Excellent as always. With Kurt Vile playing BF, I am kind of hoping she might get invited again, and we might see them share the stage. I've also seen Screaming Jets twice in very short succession. I can't see them playing BF, but they're a great live band.

Sometimes wish I still lived up that way (SEQ), as it would be so much easier and less expensive to get to these shows. Hoping that our own Forth Valley Blues Festival, just before Byron's Bluesfest, grows a bit more. Just bought tickets to see The Church playing in Edinburgh during my annual trip home. I predict quite a few ex-pats in the audience.

Gang of Youths - developing into great band Alison Krauss - voice of an angel The Church - that distinctive guitar sound! Beth Hart - what a singer - real shame not at BF30 Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls - ditto. Great fun, what energy. Prague crowd loved it and recommend grabbing a ticket for one of his upcoming Oz dates.
Off to see Dead Letter Circus in Brisbane in couple of weeks and that will be that for the year.

thanks for the shout out, for me there's nothing quite like catching a great night of music. i heard about paul kellys melbourne show being rained out & i'm hoping that doesn't happen to us in brisbane as it rained the last time he played the riverstage. once the new year comes around i'll be starting out the year with shows from the black sorrows, phil collins, leon bridges, florence + the machine & slash with myles kennedy in january. hopefully all the music loving forum members have a great christmas as there is a great year of music ahead including next years bluesfest.
