Would it be Tony Palmer?
Said to be the first person to film Hendrix playing live & directed Rory’s Irish Tour ’74.

Good guess but not what I want.

After my last stab in the dark I’m lost.
When the trail goes cold people lose interest …better hints or better still more regular hints(every couple of weeks) would keep the ball rolling.

The map references were Ballyshannon and Seattle.

I think people got as far as Rory Gallagher and Jimi Hendrix before the guesses dried up.

Jimi's bass player in the Experience was Noel Redding.

Prior to joining the Experience Noel was in a few local bands around the Folkestone/Hythe area, notably The Burnettes and The Loving Kind. Also in these two bands was Jim Leverton playing bass.

In 1994 Jim Leverton joined the final incarnation of Rory's band playing keyboards.

Ok. Staying with Noel Redding: what is the connection between Noel and the Sunbury Pop Festival?

Was it that Redding played in a band with Randy California of the band Spirit who were on the '73 line-up?

Close enough-Noel played on 3 tracks of Randy’s 1972 album Kaptain Kopter and the Fabulous Twirlybirds-he was never in the band-and Randy was a fairly constant member of Spirit, although not at the time of Sunbury ‘73.
