Considering Jason Isbell appeared on just about every top 5 and far more than any of the headliners he out scoured Plant and Lionelby a country mile it’s only right that he comes back next year wth his Mrs who is a major factor in the band. The only ones that didn’t vote for him where those that missed him so do everyone a favour!! I’d buy a five day on his inclusion alone.

I prefer to be entertained rather than preached to.I saw his set at his first Bluesfest appearance & it was not me.So I deliberately missed his 2018 sets.
Today I watched Chris Isaak,Watermelon Slim,Dave Alvin,Rod Piazza.Steve Miller Band on DVD.Entertaining instrumentation.

Like I said it looks like only those that didn’t see him didn’t have him in their top 5, you proved my point old chap.

Keep the great posts coming.

I too saw his first Bluesfest appearance and was also less than impressed.

HOWEVER.

This year he had a completely different sound and feel to his sets. Just outstanding in my opinion. Definitely need him back.

It's the mood of the moment. I saw him in the Delta tent in 2014. We called in for just 15 minutes on the way to another tent and just couldn't leave. Incredible show. Went back to see him in Jambalaya in 2016 and just couldn't get into his music and left after 20 minutes or so. Saw him again this year and thought he was one of the highlights of this years Bluesfest. As I said , mood of the moment

The Levellers toured Australia a couple of years ago. Stalwarts of the European festival circuit and still a great live band. They would fit bluesfest perfectly.

Avett Brothers
Dawes
Vedder
Neil Young
Trampled by Turtles
Deer Tick
Jakob Dylan
Steve Miller Band

When you're lost in the rain in Juarez
And it's Eastertime too
And your gravity fails
And negativity don't pull you through
Don't put on any airs
When you're down on Rue Morgue Avenue
They got some hungry women there
And they really make a mess outta you.
