Solo volunteer here! First time to Bluesfest.

However I will not be able to make it unless I have found somewhere to stay.

I have had my eye on sites for months, but riding solo makes it a bit trickier.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Did you ring the volunteer office.
They were offering tents for $20.
These may have gone however.

When they go low-we go high.

I just booked a camp site for $20 and am going to buy a cheap tent from K-mart. Works out pretty cheap and a great way to meet people!

Don't get a cheap tent, the tropical downpours there will make you regret it very quickly. Hire or borrow a good one if money is an issue.

If you have a reasonable tent, Mullumbimby showground is/was $20- per day
I have stayed there for last 2 years - basic but clean amenities, and not overcrowded
last year there was a minibus to town and then catch the regular daily shuttle buses from newsagent in town.
I drove my own car to town, as was unsure about minibus, (no-one seemed to be waiting?) but imagine the sign on front gate was not there for nothing.
Maybe phone caretaker and check, or ask where I am camped when you get there.

If you are a volly, you may need to get there earlier than what suits me.
But very likely you will find a fellow volly which would be just write d'oh!

its easter so evry option is expensive ofcourse even camp grounds wont sell u 1 or 2 nights as theres a great bus shuttle that operates tho the kines are pretty long wait to board and pre purchase your bus tiks earlier in the day to save that line up.Id advertise for buddy s to camp with and team up esp as a chick ive noticed heaps of travellers come alone and camp.so share all that stuff u need to set up.and u can get a cheap trolley with wheels to carry it all in. while there get on FB and advertise free gear to sell it off and get a ride back to town while they pick it up on tuesday? sounds like a plan.I usually have a car so I free camp in a nearby secret spot but even that has down sides as the departing traffic is crazy long hrs of wait to exit on 2 points. so u stay late till its cleared and cruise out.Are u driving? PM me and i can share some tips but not with the entire Forum readership Im volly too.5 times now good luck enjoy

I'm a solo first time volunteer myself. I'm camping at Mullum Leagues club if your were interested in teaming up. Vol camp Sites at the fest have sold out unfortunately. I'm travelling down from Brisbane on Wednesday and heading back on Monday night.
