Like many others I feel that David Moses has perfecty put into words pretty much everything I wanted to say in this thread.

I am going to add one more thing though. Personaly I was more dissapointed by Peter shutting down the forum and his original post in this thread than I was by the seemingly misleading build up to the JJ's announcement. I was stunned that Mr Noble would lecture so many of his admirers and long time supporters on "tolerence" while so spectacularly displaying a complete lack of it. It seems to me that, in terms of "healing the planet", instead of shutting down discussion it would have been far better to engage in a dialogue explaing to us how the advertising build up wasn't OTT.

Never-the-less my hat is now off to Peter and the admin staff for being couragous enough to open up the forum again, maybe the world can become a better place after all :-)

I personally am looking forward to seeing JJ and I am loving the second announcement. Thankyou once again Mr Noble and all involved for creating this wonderful annual event. Kia kaha!

He joined Ben Harper too from memory!?

...and Will Conner.

But his set with ALO was a full-fledged Jack Johnson show... after 15 minutes of ALO playing Jack came out it turned into more or less his show.

Reg, are we allowed to talk about our feeling of JJ? I am looking for the small print on what is allowed and not. I guess what I am still wondering about....was something really hateful said, or was it just the comments about the announcement and the type of music what shut this board down?
I never did see anything that was hateful...Just the common comments you see on 'any' forum. Of course, that is why we have moderators, to adjust or remove 'hateful and evil' remarks.
Good morning world.....anyone see Gin Wigmore and the Cardinals?

I guess I should add my bob's worth!!!!!!!!!! ( No offence, Jafa)

I did view the site probably minutes before everything was deleted, and even added a post myself, and must say that some of the posts were unnecessarily personal and some I would suggest down right vengeful.
In saying that, David, your post was spot on!
I am still getting over the fact that The Band are not reforming, such was my expectation.

In saying that, the Second (third) announcement made up for everything.
John Mayall, Peter Green, Jeff Beck at one festival...........it's like living in London in the sixties!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will continue to offer my grateful support for the work of Peter Noble and team in putting on this marvellous Festival.

I found some of the petty complaints that were aired in regard to the 2009 Festival most disappointing, and consider that there are a handful of negative posters who need to reassess their Festival attendance and membership of this board.

When it extends beyond sparring with myself and other Bluesfest Administration Supporters, and involves attacking the Bluesfest management, the Headmaster clearly needs to get the big stick out.

In regard to the 2009 Festival, there were some posts that should have been wiped, and the odd poster who should have been expelled,as the quality and tone of the board was deteriorating badly.

Hence my decision to have a break from posting for four months.

I am pleased to see that once again after a lengthy lapse, we do have a proactive moderation function, which will keep the board at its more sophisticated level than one might find on some other forums such as BDO.

Certainly it would have provided less disquiet if the JJ and friends team had been promoted as part of the second announcement, but the Festival Marketing Team must have decided as part of its mix,to have the JJ & Others special announcement as part of its package for good commercial reasons.

The concept certainly produced a very active and interesting thread, which unfortunately deteriorated in quality as some posters took personal offence at the outcome, rather than sitting back and looking at the larger picture which is what we are talking about is an artist who will take up less than 1 % of the musical time on offer.

The thread then became an overwhelming wave of negativity, with no signs of abating.
While Admin could have wiped all of the negative wave posts, that would not have prevented fresh emotive posts emerging.
Accordingly wiping the thread and closing down the board was the only logical solution.
My logic told me that the Board would be reinstated on November 30th in conjunction with the second announcement.

Peter Noble enjoys reading our posts, but prefers them to be positive, and has warned in the past that attacking Admin will not be tolerated.
There is no need for him to permanantly close down the board as it can be governed by effective moderation.

The other deleted thread opened by my previously banned friend, with its personal attack on Peter, only served to add fuel to the fire,as such a posting encourages other troubled minds to emerge.
Accordingly it was also eliminated.

The comments made by Always 28 on 30/11/09 express the remainder of my thought patterns.

Johnnymac had the privilege of being the final poster on the Board before shutdown.

Have I missed something? - I'm still too busy stressing about how I can fit all of announcement #1 into a mere 5 days!
